Art Schipper Takes A Fall
| It looks like Art will not be able to go anywhere in the near future.
He was trying out a motor scooter which he was planning
on buying, and took a tumble
on it while making a turn.
The scooter landed on his right ankle, and now
he has a splint on it. He broke the fibula about an inch
above the bottom. He expects that he will be somewhat
out of action for 6 to 8 weeks. Since it is his right ankle he doesn't see how he can drive.
Sandy, his wife, will be his nurse/driver etc.
His comment was, "I guess that the motor scooter is out of the picture".

Chapter of Excellence Awarded 2010/2011

President, Mary Fowler, accepted the Chapter of Excellence award on behalf of the Chardonnay Travelers at their August outing at Betabel RV Park in San Juan Bautista, CA. California State President, Sue Chambers, presented the award on behalf of the National WIT organization. The Club has received this award every year since 1996. The Winnebago Itasca Travelers encourages the growth of active and fun local chapters of WIT, and uses the Chapter of Excellence program to recognize those chapters that are striving to reach these goals. Chapter leadership is encouraged to use WIT Chapter of Excellence criteria when planning yearly programs. Local chapters that meet the program’s goals are recognized each year during the Grand National Rally.
Betabel RV Park (Article by Gloria Anderson) The Chardonnay Travelers went on an outing to Betabel RV Park August 18-21 in San Juan Bautista, CA. The park was great and the area has lots to see. We had fourteen rigs and twenty-six members. The park is 30 minutes away from Monterey, a beautiful coastal town. Some members visited the Monterey Aquarium. Other attractions just a few miles from Betabel are: the Gilroy Outlets, the San Juan Bautista Mission, antique stores in Gilroy, and the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. On Friday night the wagon masters, the Andersons and the Alamedas, prepared a wonderful dinner and Rhoda Alameda made her delicious clam chowder. Saturday night we had a potluck. We all had a great visit and enjoyed the weekend away.

Tahoe Valley RV Resort (Article by Gloria Anderson)
This was a beautiful setting in the Sierra pines. Ten rigs participated and we had a wonderful weekend. We barbecued and ate together picnic style outside and sat around the fire at night telling funny personal stories from our past. We all had a good laugh. We visited the casinos and did some sightseeing around the awesome Lake Tahoe area. We enjoyed this outing so much we made reservations for next year to go back. If you haven't visited the Lake Tahoe area, you should try to do so.
