Old Business

Tom Balcer requested $200 from the treasury for food for the Thanksgiving Dinner for the November, 2011 outing.  A motion was made by Tom, seconded by Scott Kenyon and unanimously passed.

Art Schipper is on the Chardonnay Travelers Nominating Committee and said for 2012, the Chardonnay Travelers would need a new Vice President, (Sue Chambers will advance to President), and a Treasurer and Secretary. The Vice President is in training for the Presidency after one to two years.  Sue said the Vice President sets up the outings for the following year and that can be done from home and she is willing to help cover outings the Vice President may not be able to attend.  Johnnie Matranga volunteered to serve as Vice President.  Carol Kenyon volunteered for Treasurer but withdrew when Bob Jehle also volunteered for Treasurer.  Art said Susan Winn will be Secretary.  Sue said it is expected all members should anticipate running for an office at some time.  Proposed officers for 2012 are:  President, Sue Chambers; Vice President, Johnnie Matranga; Secretary, Susan Winn; and Treasurer, Bob Jehle.

Art Schipper is also on the State Nominating Committee.  For 2012 volunteers are needed for First Vice President, Second Vice President and Secretary.  It would be best to have officers from different chapters but it is not necessary.  Art said being in office is a lot of fun and you meet new people from different areas of the state.

Mary Fowler discussed the Christmas Party.  It will be on December 4, 2011, at 11am, at Rancho Solano Golf Club in Fairfield.  The banquet facilities are on the second floor in the Terrace Room with a beautiful golf course view.  A deposit of $195 was given.  After signing there will be added a 20% service charge and 8.375% tax, totaling $253.60.  Cost per person will be $27 to $29 per person.  Art Schipper requested the room cost be covered from the treasury.  The members unanimously agreed.  The facility wanted to add a $40 charge for table centerpieces but Mary declined.  Mary will email directions to the facility.  Those going to the event need to pay by November 10, 2011.  Mary will let the members know the exact amount.  George Cloutier is donating red and white wine for the meal.

New Business

Sue Chambers reminded members the 50/50 raffle is to support club donations and expenses voted on by Club members..  Half goes to the winner and half to the treasury.

The Club members voted to donate $25 from the treasury to the state for a gift basket for the state meeting January, 2012.  In addition, Linda and Bill Worley will donate a gift box and Art and Sandy Schipper will donate a tea basket.  The theme for the state meeting is Aviation, Flights of Fantasy.

Mary Fowler said Loy Cummings wants to be an honorary member of WIT.  Mary submitted a letter to the state with this request listing all the things the Cummings volunteered for.   Art Schipper said Loy should first be made an honorary member of the Chardonnay Travelers, then the state.  A motion was made by Tom Balcer and seconded by Rich Kolivas for Loy to be an honorary member of Chardonnay Travelers.  The members unanimously agreed.   A copy of the letter that Mary sent to the state will be on file with the Chardonnay Travelers Secretary.

Congratulations were given to Art and Sandy Schipper who celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary on July 25.  Congratulations were also given to Rich and Kathie Kolivas for their wedding anniversary on August 7.  August birthdays recognized were:  Susan Winn, Mary Fowler, Loy Cummings, Sue Chambers and for Ernie Alameda on September 1.

Bill Worley said he collected $27.89 for recycle money for this month and a check was submitted to the Treasurer.

Art Schipper requested the Secretary get the dates members resigned this year and the dates of new members joining the Chardonnays.  This information is needed to compute number of members gained and lost in a year for the Chapter of Excellence report.

Jan Balcer said Rod Thomas won third place in the national WIT contest for his California WIT State website.

Sue Chambers announced that the Chardonnay Travelers qualified for the Chapter of Excellence Award again this year and there is a metal plaque given to us that will be placed in the ground at outings.  There was a drawing of all the Chapter of Excellence clubs from each region - West, Central and East. The Chardonnay Travelers won the drawing and there was a choice of a big grill and dinner with Doug Formanek, or $500 and Sue chose the $500.  A check will be coming in the mail.  This award is for signing up the most new members during the Chapter of Excellence time frame of 2010-2011.

There was no further new business and the meeting was adjourned at 10:54am by President Mary Fowler.

Respectfully submitted,

Gloria Anderson, Secretary
